LO: To explore the meaning of words.

Instructions

First, complete the knowledge quiz. Record your score in your English book.

Then, scroll up to the top of the page then click ‘Next Activity’.

Read these instructions then watch the video, the teacher will explain to when to pause. Complete all work in your English book under your Date and LO not on a sheet of paper. Remember to mark any work you can in green pen.

 

Text (Slides 2-3): ‘The Borrowers’ Listen to and read the story. Any words you don’t know write them in your English book with a definition.

Word of the day – Quest.

 

My Turn, Your Turn: (slides 3-5) Read the paragraph shown. Find and copy the word closest to the meaning of ‘tremble’. Then mark your answer.

Then identify the word which could replace ‘Triumphantly’. (Remember a similar word is called a synonym) Mark in green pen.

 

Independent Activity - (Slides 6-7)   Listen to the explanation and then pause the video and close the video. Then answer all of the questions 1-6. 

Then, resume the video and mark your work.

 

Spellings (Slide 8): This is additional spelling work to your normal spelling test which will still be on a Tuesday.  This week’s focus is super, anti and auto prefixes.

 

Finally, complete the end of lesson knowledge quiz. Record your score in your English book.
