LO: To write a story

Resources

English book, blue pen, green pen, pencil, ruler

Instructions

First, complete the knowledge quiz. Record your score in your English book.

Then, scroll up to the top of the page then click ‘Next Activity’.

Read these instructions then watch the video, the teacher will explain to when to pause. Complete all work in your English book under your Date and LO not on a sheet of paper. Remember to mark any work you can in green pen.

Spelling Test: The spelling test will be the first part of your lesson. Mark answers in green pen. This is in addition to our normal Tuesday test.

Word of the Day:  triumphantly

Text (Slides 1-5): Read through ‘The Borrowers’ text and try to magpie some of the ideas.

Independent Activity (Slides 6 – 16)-  Listen to the explanation. You are going to write your own adventure story.  Get some ideas from the screens on the video, pause where you need to and listen to the advice from Mr McGarry.

You may want to make notes for your adventure story, you may also want to magpie some ideas from the opening and from the ‘Getting started’ and ‘WAGGOL’ pages

Now write your adventure story using all of your ideas and success criteria. You do not need to write the whole story. Instead, you may choose to write up the section you are most excited about. This could be the opening or the problem.

After you have finished, continue video and check the success criteria and complete any editing in green pen you need to do to make your writing better.
