We would like you to complete two sessions for English today.

Session 1 is a Grammar lesson and session 2 is Writing (Plan and Draft) 

Final Writing is to be done on Friday.

Thursday Lesson 1 Grammar

L.O. to punctuate and use direct speech as a quote.

Resources (including
exercise book being used)

Homework book, blue pen and green pen.

Instructions

Click ‘Start Lesson’ then ‘Start Quiz’. First, complete the quiz. This is to show what you already know so don’t worry if you find some questions tricky. Record your score in your Homework book. Then, scroll up to the top of the page then click ‘Next Activity’.

 

Read these instructions then watch the video, the teacher will explain to when to pause.

Complete all work in your Homework book under your Date and LO not on a sheet of paper. You can reply to the teacher out loud just like a real lesson! When it says to, write your answer in your book then mark in green pen when the teacher tells you the answer.

 

Spellings – Remember to keep practising spellings and use them, when you can, in your writing.

 

Word of the day – Pause the video once the word of the day is introduced. Write the word and meaning into your book then use the word in two different sentences and find synonyms and antonyms (as we have done in school).

 

Note down rules for direct speech into Homework books.

 

INDEPENDENT TASK- Listen to the explanation and then pause the video. Scroll up to the top of the page and click ‘Next Activity’ click through the slides until you see the independent task (should be larger than on the video). CHALLENGE: You cannot use said. Find an appropriate alternative.

 

Once the video is finished please close it. Then, click ‘Next Activity’. You should see ‘Start Quiz’ complete the quiz. Record your score in your Homework book then send your English and Maths score to your class teacher when you send your ‘Good Morning’ message on I Am Learning tomorrow.

Remember to edit your first newspaper draft then copy up into best, if you have time you could type the final version as we did in school with the Titanic.
