Instructions

There is no introductory quiz today.

Read these instructions then watch the video, the teacher will explain to when to pause.

Before starting, Mrs Fozzard will explain her reading challenge for you – this is optional. Always ask a parent/carer for their permission to take part in challenges that involve social media.

In this lesson, you are going to read an extract from a story and then answer comprehension questions.

Word of the day (marvellous) – Pause the video once the word of the day is introduced. Write the word and meaning into your book then use the word in two different sentences and find synonyms and antonyms. Look at the word classes Mrs Fozzard gives you – which word class does the word ‘marvellous’ belong to?

INDEPENDENT TASK- Pause the video, click on the ‘Next’ button to answer the questions. Write out the questions into your Homework books then read the extract. Answer the questions then resume the video to mark your work. Don’t just accept not knowing the meaning of words given – look up any words you are unsure of.  Remember – answer the questions fully and clearly please!

Extension: Try using the text provided to come up with your own comprehension questions – remember, you must provide us with a mark scheme too.

Spellings- Note down the spellings, (also available on the school website) and learn them using Look, Cover, Write and Check. Ensure you know the meaning of each word and try to use them in your writing or in a sentence. You will be send your score on Friday, after the test, to your teacher via I am Learning.

Once the video is finished please close it. Then, click ‘Next Activity’. You should see ‘Start Quiz’ complete the quiz. Record your score, out of 5, in your Homework book.
