Instructions

Click ‘Start Lesson’ and complete the quiz. Record your score in your English book.

Then click ‘Next Activity’.

When the video starts, you will be asked to complete the spelling test. Complete this in your English book under your Date and LO. Please mark your spelling test in green pen and record it in your English book.

Magpie vocabulary - make a list of the words of the day that we have looked at this week. Try to use them in your writing today. When the teacher shares the myth, magpie any words/phrases that you think you would like to use in your own writing.

Word of the day – Pause the video once the word of the day is introduced. Write the word and meaning into your book then use the word in two different sentences.

INDEPENDENT TASK-

Planning – Listen to the teacher explain the structure of the Myth and how she has planned for one of the paragraphs. When she has explained, pause the video and plan each paragraph: as you enter the cave, description of the creature, description of the battle and defeating the creature.

Resume the video and listen to the teacher explain how she has used her plan to write paragraph three. She will also go through the success criteria for this piece of writing. You might like to make a note of this and tick each element when you have used it.

When the teacher tells you to, pause the video and use your plan to write the first three paragraphs. Refer back to your plan, the vocabulary you have written in your book and the success criteria on the slides. Remember to think about everything we have discussed (using different sentence openers, prepositions, description and figurative language such as similes, metaphors or personification).

Remember that you can read the example myth again for ideas.

Improvements – when you have written the first three paragraphs, resume the video and listen to the teacher identifying how she can improve her paragraph. Then using your green pen, make any changes to your writing. Use the success criteria on the slides to help you. Continue writing your Myth. Think about the success criteria and what you need to include next. Once you have completed all paragraphs, read through your writing and use your green pen to make any improvements. Reading your writing aloud can really help you to check your sentences. Revise punctuation and spelling then edit words/phrases/sentences. Do you need to remove some, add some or substitute them for better ones?

There is no quiz to complete today.
