LO: To use direct speech in my alternative ending.

Resources (including
exercise book being used)

English book, blue pen, pencil, ruler and green pen.

Direct speech – a sentence that includes the exact words that are spoken.

Inverted commas – used to punctuate speech.

Click ‘Start Lesson’ and complete the quiz. Record your score in your English book.

Then click ‘Next Activity’.

When the video starts, you will be asked to complete the spelling test. Complete this in your English book under your Date and LO, not on a sheet of paper. Please mark your spelling test in green pen and record it in your English book. Please send your score to your class teacher on I Am Learning.

Planning – Listen to the teacher explain how he has planned his alternative ending and how he has used speech and the features listed in the success criteria. Choose your alternative ending. Copy and complete the table to help you identify the structure of your writing. Magpie any adjectives or sentence starters from the slides. When the teacher tells you to, pause the video and use your plan to write the first paragraph.

Improvements – listen to the teacher identifying how he can improve his paragraph. Then using your green pen, make any changes to your writing. Use the success criteria and word bank on the slides to help you. Then continue writing your alternative ending. Once you have completed all four paragraphs, read through each paragraph and use your green pen to make any improvements.

There is no quiz to complete but please remember to send your spelling score to your teacher on I Am Learning. You may want to share some of your super sentences from your alternative ending. We are really looking forward to reading some. J
