To understand fronted adverbials

Resources

(including  exercise book being used) English book, blue pen, green pen, pencil, ruler

Instructions

Write the date and LO in your English book.

Click ‘Start Lesson’ then ‘Start Quiz’. First, complete the quiz. This is to show what you remember about yesterday’s work. Record your score in your English book.

Then, scroll up to the top of the page then click ‘Next Activity’.

Read these instructions then watch the video, the teacher will explain to when to pause. Complete all work in your English book under your Date and LO not on a sheet of paper. You can reply to the teacher out loud just like a real lesson! When it says ‘Your turn’ write your answer in your book then mark in green pen when the teacher tells you the answer.

Write down the word of the day in your book, its word class and the definition. E.g. Run, Verb, move at a speed faster than a walk.

MINI TASK- Rewrite the sentence in your books replacing the fronted adverbial. If you would like, you could make a list of other fronted adverbials you could use. Remember when marking it they might not say your answer but it could still be correct! Ask an adult or message your teacher on I am learning.

INDEPENDENT TASK- Listen to the explanation and then pause the video and close the video. Scroll up to the top of the page and click ‘Next Activity’ click through the slides until you see your task. Explore the different rooms in your house  or maybe go outside and write some sentences about the items in the different rooms using a fronted adverbial of either time, place or manner. Try to do a few of each. E.g. On Miss Bradburn’s desk, sits a large bulky computer.

Then, resume the video by scrolling up to the top of the page and selecting resume. DO NOT MARK YOUR WORK. As everyone will have lots of different answers, do not mark your work. Listen to some of the answers you could have.

Spellings- This is additional spelling work to your normal spelling test which will still be on a Friday.

Again, click ‘Next Activity’. You should see ‘Start Quiz’ complete the quiz. Record your score in your English book then send your score to your class teacher using I Am Learning tomorrow morning.
