English Lesson

LO:  to focus on adding description to a poem.


(including exercise book being used) English book, blue pen, green pen, pencil, ruler


Click ‘Start Lesson’ then ‘Start Quiz’. First, complete the introductory quiz. This is to show what you already know so don’t worry if you find some questions tricky. Record your score in your English book.

Then, scroll up to the top of the page then click ‘Next Activity’.


Read these instructions then watch the video, the teacher will explain to when to pause. Complete all work in your English book under your Date and LO not on a sheet of paper. You can reply to the teacher out loud just like a real lesson! When it says ‘Your turn’ write your answer in your book then mark in green pen when the teacher tells you the answer.


Write down the word of the day in your book, its word class and the definition. E.g. uncharted, adjective, an area of land or sea that has yet to be mapped or surveyed.


Your Activity- Listen to the explanation and then pause and close the video when instructed. Scroll up to the top of the page and click ‘Next Activity’. Follow the slides along until you get to ‘Your Task’. Have a go at the task in your English book. You must set your work out neatly, just like we would expect in class.


For Q1 – Write out the sentences and underline the adjectives in each sentence.

For Q2 – Write out the original sentence and underline tall. Then re-write the sentence again underneath with a different word to improve on tall.

Repeat for Q3.

For Q4 – Copy the sentences into your book and fill in the most suitable noun in the gap.

For Q5 – Copy out the original sentence and underneath think of some similes for each sentence. You do not need to copy the table.

Then, resume the video by scrolling up to the top of the page and selecting resume and mark your work in green pen if you can.


Spellings- This is additional spelling work to your normal spelling test which will still be on a Friday.


Again, click ‘Next Activity’. You should see ‘Start Quiz’ complete the quiz. Record your score in your English book.
