LO: to write a poem.

Resources

(including exercise book being used) English book, blue pen, green pen, pencil, ruler

Instructions

Click ‘Start Lesson’ then ‘Start Quiz’. First, complete the introductory quiz. This is to show what you already know so don’t worry if you find some questions tricky. Record your score in your English book. Then, scroll up to the top of the page then click ‘Next Activity’.

The spelling test will be first today, listen to the instructions carefully. Complete the spelling test in your English book (remember this is an additional spelling test). Then, mark with your green pen.

Read these instructions then watch the video, the teacher will explain to when to pause. Complete all work in your English book under your Date and LO not on a sheet of paper. You can reply to the teacher out loud just like a real lesson! When it says ‘Your turn’ write your answer in your book then mark in green pen when the teacher tells you the answer.

Write down the word of the day in your book, its word class and the definition. E.g. uncharted, adjective, an area of land or sea that has yet to be mapped or surveyed.

Your Activity-  Resume the video and listen to the teacher explain the task.

Plan your ideas just like the teacher has. You could create some bullet points or a mind map in your book to help you think of ideas. You may find it helpful to think of your 5 senses and use those to help you plan what you can smell, see, hear, touch, feel.

The teacher also provides a list of some good vocabulary you could use on one of the slides too.

When writing your poem, remember to try to use the features you have looked at in this topic.

- Title

- Verses

- Repetition

- Alliteration

- Similes

- Adjectives/ expanded noun phrases

- Adverbs

- Powerful verbs

Resume the video and look at the teacher’s idea.

Remember to be proud of your work, we would love to see some of your work. If you would like to take a picture of it, get an adult to send it into the school office and we will get to read them.

Log onto I Am Learning and complete the ‘Adjectives’ activity.
