LO: To calculate and compare areas.

Pencil, ruler, green pen, Maths book

First, complete the knowledge quiz. This is to show what you already know so don’t worry if you find some questions tricky. Record your score in your Maths book.

Then, ‘Close Quiz’ and scroll up to the top of the page then click ‘Next Activity’.

Watch the video, the teacher will explain when to pause to complete an activity. We are not using the worksheets referred to. They look exactly the same as the activities you see on the video and slides so don’t worry about not having them.
Complete all work (including warm ups) in your Maths book under your Date and LO, not on a sheet of paper. You can reply to the teacher out loud just like a real lesson! When it says ‘Your turn’ write your answer in your book then mark in green pen when the teacher tells you the answer (you can pause the video if you need more time).

Part 1 - Listen to the explanation and then pause the video. Write down each fraction question in your maths book, divide by the denominator, times by the top (At Park Hall we say numerator) to find the answer. Then, resume the video (by scrolling to the top of the page to find the icon) and mark your work in green pen.

Move on section. Click on Next activity and look on slide 2,3, and 4. Estimate first, then write in your maths book like this: 1a.   E = 19cm2   A = 20cm2. Then resume video to mark work and continue lesson.

Main Activity- Listen to the instructions then pause and close the video. Open the slides which show the larger images of the independent tasks. Click until you reach ‘Main Task’. Just write the calculation and answers in your book, you do not need to draw each shape. Remember if you want the challenge, calculate the perimeters too. Then, resume the video to mark your answers in green and hear the challenge.

Then, click ‘Next Activity’ to view ‘Start Quiz’. Complete the quiz and record your score in your Maths book and send your English and Maths score to your class teacher when you send your ‘Good Morning’ message on ‘I Am Learning’ tomorrow.
