LO: To solve length problems.


Pencil, ruler, green pen, Maths book.



First, complete the knowledge quiz and record the score in your exercise book.

To Start (Slide 1)- Using timelines work out the length in time of each event. Remember to the next next whole hour as a bridging point. Check answers and mark in green pen.


Moving on (Slide 2)   Use the fractions of metres chart to work out fractions of a metre. Check answers. After that, using the diagram, work out what each diagram is worth in cms.


Main Task (Slide 3): Draw the table in your book, in order to find out how Jack can make a flag pole using different length measuring sticks. Remember to work systematically as you fill in your table.


Challenge Task (Slide 4): This is an optional task. Listen to the extra information that you are given which will help you to start. You can complete it or listen to Mr Critchlow talk about how to solve the problem.


When you have completed this task stop the video and click ‘Next Activity’ and take the exit quiz by pressing ‘Start Quiz’. Complete the quiz and record your score in your Maths book and send your English and Maths score to your class teacher when you send your ‘Good Morning’ message on I Am Learning tomorrow.
