Miss Deakin's, Miss Miller's and Mrs Willis' Maths groups

Maths this week is all about Fractions. This is an area which we have looked at previously but errors are made in test situations.

For each lesson there is a further challenge which we would like you all to complete (within your lesson time). Answers are available for the further challenge so please mark and make edits.

Maths

Monday

LO

L.O. to identify, describe and represent fractions

Resources (including
exercise book being used)

Maths book, pencil, green pen and ruler.

Instructions

First, complete the quiz. This is to show what you already know so don’t worry if you find some questions tricky. Record your score in your Maths book.

Then, scroll up to the top of the page then click ‘Next Activity’.

Watch the video, the teacher will explain to when to pause. Complete all work in your Maths book under your Date and LO not on a sheet of paper. You can reply to the teacher out loud just like a real lesson! When it says ‘Your turn’ write your answer in your book then mark in green pen when the teacher tells you the answer (you can pause the video if you need more time)

INDEPENDENT TASK- Listen to the explanation and then pause the video. Then, scroll up to the top of the page and click ‘Next Activity’. You can then see a larger version of the independent task.  Complete the task in your Maths book. Aim to draw the images as accurately as possible into your books (you may wish to raw squares instead of circles). Then, resume the video (by scrolling to the top of the page to find the icon) and mark your work in green pen.

You may wish to sketch out the images into your books or if you have access to a printer you can print the resource and stick in your book, following the school’s presentation policy.
