Morning Year 5. We hope you had a lovely week. 

 

Remember, your first job every day is to send a 'Good Morning' message to your class teacher on I Am Learning by 10 am.

 

If you run out of space in any exercise books (orange Maths or yellow English book), please ask an adult to contact the office to arrange to pick up a new one.

Spelling (20 minutes) –

New words –

knuckle, wreck, crumb, whistle, exhaust, isle, doubtful, rhombus, twelfth, vegetable

Look up the definitions of any words that you are not familiar with. You could record them in a notebook or on paper. Then practise spelling the words (write, write, cover and write, cover and write, check). Continue to practise any you do not spell correctly.

Using your knowledge of light and shadows, create a shadow puppet show. You will need a torch and a screen (flat surface). To make your puppets, use card / plastic and straws/craft sticks/lollypop sticks - ask an adult at home about which resources you have that you could use. You could also make objects for the scenery/background. Think about the story your show will tell – it could be a traditional tale such as The Three Little Pigs. How will you use your knowledge of light and shadows to make some objects or puppets larger or smaller? How can you make some shadows darker or lighter? How will you tell the story? Consider the puppets actions and the narrative. Perform you shadow puppet show for someone at home.
