NOTE: This video was made for Year Seven and so the teacher will refer to you as Year Seven and state that learning will take place more in Year Eight. Please ignore when this happens. As per the instructions below, any new terminology your teacher uses, pause the video and write it down (you may need to use a dictionary to find the meaning) and give some examples to help you remember.

 

If you find you are struggling with this learning, please refer to ‘Miss Deakin and Miss Miller’s Maths Group’ page and complete the Math learning via the link on this page. This is about Fractions and the tasks do get more complex as the week progresses.

L.O. to expand and simplify expressions with brackets.

Instructions

Monday:

Please write the date and LO in your maths book.

Next, complete the quiz. This is to show what you already know so don’t worry if you find some questions tricky. Record your score in your Maths book.

Then, scroll up to the top of the page and click ‘Next Activity’.

 

Watch the video, the teacher will explain to when to pause. Complete all of the ‘You Do’ questions in your Maths book.  If it helps you to work through the questions on the board with the teacher too, you can. Don’t forget to mark in green pen when the teacher tells you the answer (you can pause the video if you need more time)

 

Write down any terminology given along with its meaning and an example– this will help you for secondary school.

 

Complete the ‘quick fire round’ – for these you will need to pause the video – they are not on the slides. When you have completed these and marked them, you are then asked to complete the main activity worksheet.  To locate the ‘worksheet’ please pause and close the video. Then scroll up to the top of the page then click ‘Next Activity’. You will have a set of slides with question, equations, calculations etc. This is the worksheet.

PLEASE NOTE - ONLY COMPLETE SLIDES 3 AND 4 TODAY – THE MAIN ACTIVITY. YOU WILL BE COMPLETING THE FOLLOWING SLIDES TOMORROW!

 

Tuesday:

You can continue working under yesterday’s date and LO, just put today’s date in the margin please.

Today you will be following the same link. You can skip the first quiz (unless you want to improve your score).  Re-watch the video for a re-cap,

You do not need to redo the Quick Fire Questions. However, keep watching the video to mark yesterday’s work.  Make sure you work out corrections in green pen.

Next, pause the video and go back to the ‘Next Activity’ slides. Move on to the Extension questions (slides 6 to 7).

You can then mark the extension questions on slides 10 to 11.

If you click back, it will then show the video again, at the top there is a ‘Resume Video’ link, click on this and have a go at the Problem Solving questions.

 

Once you have marked your work, click ‘Next Activity’. Complete the quiz and record your score. This is the score your teacher will be expecting on Wednesday morning. (out of 5).
