Photos of our caterpillars

Our caterpillars are now butterflies!

During the Easter break, the butterflies emerged from their cocoons.

Have a look at some of the videos and pictures Mrs Bates has taken while looking after the new arrivals!

Monday 30th March

Mrs Bates is taking very good care of the caterpillars. They have all formed into pupa now and some are still attached to the lid of the container. They have been transferred to the butterfly net to finish their metamorphosis!

Friday 27th March

The pupae are starting harden and the caterpillars look quite different!

Wednesday 25th March

All caterpillars have stopped wriggling around  and have now attached themselves to the top of the container. This means they are beginning to harden into chrysalides (chrysalides are also known as pupae). We will update you when they change further!
