Settlements

Task 1:

Watch the video and read the information on this website: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zx72pv4/articles/zrbvjhv

Task 2:

Look at the settlements PDF. Follow the instructions to make your settlement model. You will need to print out the sheets for this. If that is not possible, you could recreate it yourself on paper and complete the extension activity.

RE (1 hour)

What does respect mean to you? How can someone be respectful?

Imagine Hindus visiting the church and Christians visiting the Mandir. How would they feel? Might they be anxious, or feel at home? Curious? Comfortable? Why? Would they recognise anything? Think about how we treat each other. Think of ways to be polite when visiting someone else’s home. Compare these with some of the symbols of respect believers may use in a place of worship. What would happen if you visited someone’s home and you weren’t respectful? How do you think worshipers would feel if people didn’t respect their holy place?

Task - Come up with four ideas for creating peace/harmony in the community. Write these ideas as positive rules.

Reflect - What do you think is needed for more respectful communities in our area?

Votes for schools (20 minutes)
