Good morning Year 5

Remember, your first job every day is to send a 'Good Morning' message to your class teacher on I Am Learning by 10 am. Remember to include your scores from yesterday’s final quiz for both English and Maths.

If you run out of space in any exercise books (orange Maths or yellow English book), please ask an adult to contact the office to arrange to pick up a new one.

PE with Joe Wicks (30 minutes)

Optional PE: complete a daily challenge

Spelling (20 minutes)

This week’s words –

led, lead, baron, barren, bridal, bridle, cereal serial, morning, mourning

In a notebook or on paper, practise spelling the words (write, write, cover and write, cover and write, check). Continue to practise any you do not spell correctly.

Arithmetic (20 minutes)

Mark your answers from yesterday (Division 1). You will find the answers at the top of this page. Watch the video to recap using short division. Then complete the calculations in your Maths book – Division 2.

Reading (10 minutes)

Choose a book to read and enjoy with someone at home. This could be a book available on Oxford Owl.

French (1 hour)

We have been focusing on telling the time. Recap telling the time using the images. Then practise telling the time by creating your own game using the document below. You could print the sheet out or draw the clocks on paper.

RE (1 hour)

Watch this video and take notes (pause the video if you need to).

Now answer these questions:

  1. Consider what Vraj says about the many gods of Hindu tradition being like a bunch of flowers:

"If there’s a whole bunch of flowers we would say they’re one bunch. They are all flowers. But each flower has different qualities, colours, petals, leaves, smell, size. Hindus think the same applies to God. Brahman is one, but contains all kinds of differences. This is why we have many forms of the gods and goddesses to worship.”

How would you describe God? Come up with your own analogy that describes what you think about God. You could start your sentence with ‘God is like…..’

2. What are the religious statues called that Hindus keep in their temples and homes?

3. Why did Vraj ring the bell?

4. Which God is responsible for creation?

5. List the 5 ways in which Vraj says prayer helps him.

6. How else could prayer help people?
