Good morning Year 4!
Remember, your first job everyday is to send a 'Good Morning' message to your class teacher on I Am Learning by 10 am. This counts as your register mark and is the same as saying 'yes' to the register in school. This must be the first thing you do before beginning any lessons including Oak National Academy.
You also need to include your Maths and English scores from the previous day's learning.
If you run out of space in any exercise books (orange Maths or yellow English book), please ask an adult to contact the office to arrange to pick up a new one.
Additional distance learning:
Spelling- Log onto I Am Learning and complete the spelling homework that has been set. You will be asked to select the correct spelling for each sentence. Make sure your spelling words are hidden- don’t be tempted to look!
You can also ask someone to test you on your spellings if you would like:
Chemist chaos champagne quiche main mane plain plane orchestra chivalry
Your teacher will see your score on I Am Learning.
Look Cover Write these words:
Echo, mechanic, moustache, medal, meddle, scene, seen, technology, fuchsia (9 words this week)
We are now starting to look at homophones (words that sound the same but have a different spelling and meaning). For these words, you must know the definition so you know which spelling to choose when writing the word in a sentence.
Some of these are tricky words- ask someone at home to help you pronounce any you are unsure about.
Do this in a notebook at home, if you do not have a spare notebook, use your small, beige notebook.
If you don’t know the meaning of any of these words, look them up in a dictionary or on https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/learner-english/
You could practise the words using stained glass spelling or spelling ladders.
Practise your handwriting by copying and completing the activities below in your beige notebook.
You should complete the tasks using joined handwriting.

Design and Technology
Today we are going to focus on Design and Technology (DT) skills. You will be completing a task to help you understand what it is like to design for a client. You will need this skill to complete the tasks for the next few weeks.
Read the information and watch the two videos on the website page below: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/z4bnf4j
For your task today, you will be looking at Activity 2 (you will need scroll down past Activity 1 to see this).
Activity 2: When you are designing for someone else, they are known as the client.
Most adults will have a phone or tablet. Your task is to design a holder for their tablet or phone which meets their requirements.
You will need to consider the size, shape and material as well as where it will be used. The angle that the device is held at will come down to the personal preference of your client.
Ask an adult in your household to be your client. You can use the document below to help you think of the questions you will need to ask your client to ensure your product is right for them. You can print this worksheet if you would like or just work on a piece of paper. In the video, the children made different designs so you may wish to think of a few ideas then allow your client to choose the one they like.
Your end project should be a labelled sketch which shows what the holder will be made of and explains what the holder will be made of and how it will work.
PE- Choose an activity to complete for 30 minutes
Optional: Complete a daily challenge https://www.parkhalljuniorac.co.uk/pe-activities/
