Year 6

It has been a busy and very exciting half-term for Year 6, packed with learning opportunities, enriching experiences, and plenty of fun!

One of the standout events was our trip to Cannock Chase Museum, where the children deepened their understanding of World War II. They had the chance to step back in time by experiencing a simulated air raid, handling real historical artefacts, and taking part in a role-play evacuation. It was a brilliant way to bring their history topic to life.

For World Book Day this year, we enjoyed taking part in quizzes about books and we have created some fantastic pieces of work for display around school.  A group of Year 6 children also visited the infant school, where they read stories to younger children from Nursery to Year 2.  It was pleasing to see how confidently they read and how much the younger ones enjoyed it!  Some children have asked when they are returning to read to them again!

Online safety continues to be a priority, and this half-term we welcomed a visitor from Street Teams, who delivered an informative session highlighting the importance of staying safe online. The children engaged thoughtfully and came away with valuable strategies to help them navigate the digital world responsibly.

World Maths Day was another exciting event. The children took on fun maths challenges and even competed with children from around the world.
