Year 6
Welcome to our house captains for 2025 - 2026. The eight children chosen had prep
ared a speech which they recorded for the whole school to watch. Children from all year groups then had the opportunity to vote for the children they wanted as their house captain. After the formal voting took place, counting begun and the following children were elected: Eve and Rayan, Jovan and Quynh, Shaan and Rishi, Ruben and Pavleen. Huge congratulations because you are going to be fantastic!
Children across school have already been working hard in class and many of our house point tokens have been collected as recognition.
Also, introducing to you are our Year 6 School Councillors! Ishaan, Avanie and Harkiran have already started their role as a councillor by holding a non-uniform day to raise money for our local charity. We look forward to hearing what ideas they bring to the meetings. More recently, the children have been encouraging children in the year group to bring in food items to help our the Black Country Foodbank. They will soon be visiting Alan with the goods and seeing what happens while they are there.
All of Year 6 have settled in brilliantly this half term! In Science, the children enjoyed hands-on experiments exploring burning, viscosity, and testing which melts ice fastest—salt or rock salt. In Geography, they have been learning all about the UK, and in PE, children have really enjoyed developing their skills in Tag Rugby!
Our residential trip to Condover was a real highlight, with activities like archery, aerial trek, aeroball, and a mini Olympics helping to build teamwork and friendships. Those who stayed behind created a fantastic library display showcasing expectations in the library.
English lessons have been enjoyable with children learning about the real Grimm fairy tales!
We’re looking forward to an exciting next half term, with new learning in History and Design & Technology!
