  • Year 5

It has been a busy and exciting few weeks in Year 5!  Our school councillors headed out on a litter pick to help keep our school grounds clean — they did a brilliant job and showed great teamwork.

A group of children had the chance to visit Queen Mary’s School, where they took part in lessons in Mandarin, English, Science and History — they represented our school so well and came back buzzing with stories to share. We also took part in World Maths Day, where children battled online against pupils from around the world in fast-paced maths games — it was great to see their competitive spirit in action.

We went on a local walk to explore the different habitats of animals in our area.   PC Littlehales visited us too, with more helpful tips on how to stay safe in different situations.

In class, we have been getting creative making pop-up nursery rhyme books for younger children — a lovely way to combine storytelling with design and technology.

To celebrate British Science Week, we talked about different careers in STEM and even joined a live Zoom call with a real NASA astronaut, which definitely inspired a few future space explorers!

All in all, it’s been a fantastic term so far and we are really proud of everything the children have achieved.
