  • Year 5

Year 5 have made a fantastic start to the year, settling in well and showing great enthusiasm and commitment to their learning. The children have particularly enjoyed reading Anne Frank by Josephine Poole – a powerful retelling of the iconic story. This has sparked deep curiosity and many thoughtful questions about life during World War II, helping the children to gain a better understanding of this important period in history.

In Reading, the children have been exploring the beautifully illustrated book When the Stars Come Out by Nicola Edwards. This has inspired rich discussions and creative responses, with each class proudly creating their own display to showcase what they have learned.

In Art, the children have let their imaginations run wild, designing and building their very own islands using a variety of typography techniques. These projects have been a fantastic way to combine creativity with design skills. PE has been equally energetic, with handball being a favourite topic this term. The children have loved developing their skills and taking part in competitive games with great sportsmanship and enthusiasm. It has been a brilliant start to Year 5, and we are excited to see what the rest of the year will bring!

Welcome to our new school councillors for Year 5!  The children are very excited to bring their ideas to the meetings and we look forward to hearing what is happening in school this year.  Welcome to the team Aizah, Ayaan and Arjun!
