Computing

At Park Hall Junior Academy, our intention is to develop safe, independent and confident users of ICT who have developed skills, which will enable them to flourish in the next phase of their learning.

By the end of KS2, children will -

  • Demonstrate excellent understanding of how to use programs on the computers such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc (or Goggle versions of them).
  • Learn about and understand computer networks, including the internet, and the opportunities they offer for communication and collaboration.
  • Learn about ‘Online safety’ and how to use technology safely, respectfully and responsibly.
  • Learn how to use programming software (Scratch) to design, write and debug programs and, in doing so, learn how to use sequence, selection, and repetition in programs; work with variables and various forms of input and output; and use logical reasoning to explain how some simple algorithms work.
  • Recognise the context of prior leaning and will clearly understand why and how what they are learning will help them in the next stage of their learning.
